十河 隆史 Takashi Sogo
Born in 1966 in Tamano, Okayama, Takashi Sogo is a Japanese ceramic artist who works from his studio on a hill overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. After studying art education at Okayama University and training in Shigaraki and the United States, he returned home to establish Studio T Pottery.
He creates everyday tableware as well as larger works, focusing on kohiki slipware, white glaze, and yakishime. His pieces often show the gentle marks of his hands, giving each work a warm and personal character.
“I make pottery for everyday use where I live on a hill overlooking the Inland Sea with my family. Handmade pottery changes colour over time with use. I’d be delighted if you feel attached to my pieces through long-term use. My hope is that spending time with my pottery will touch and warm your heart.”
