Marumitsu Poterie | Choseki Kohiki Matcha Bowl
The "Choseki kohiki" bowl has a rustic, earthy feel with iron powder and light pink marks, crafted using the traditional Japanese "kohiki" technique. The base clay is covered with white-powder clay and finished with a soft, white feldspathic glaze, creating a plump, uneven texture that feels comforting to hold with both hands due to its round shape.

Do not use in oven and dishwasher. Microwave safe. However, rapid change in temperature and impacts may cause cracks on the surface. There will be inevitable color differences, unevenness, and misalignment on the glaze
Crazing may appear on the glaze due to shrinkage differences, but it doesn't affect the tableware's use or indicate damage
Light pink marks may appear on the surface of the tableware due to the oxidation of a component in the base clay during firing. Each piece has a unique pattern of these light pink marks, making it one-of-a-kind.
Microwave use
Microwaves heat food by acting on its water content. The food may become very hot while parts of the vessel remain relatively cool, creating temperature differences that can cause cracking
- Before microwave use, wipe off all surface moisture
- Do not heat an empty vessel
- Avoid heating very small amounts of food for long periods
- Do not place a hot vessel directly into cold water or onto a cold surface
- Stir food where possible so that it heats evenly
Medome
This treatment is recommended for porous ceramics. It fills fine pores and helps reduce staining, odours and seepage.
- Place the vessel in a pot lined with a clean cloth.
-
Add enough rice-washing water to cover it completely.
Alternatively, use water containing flour or potato starch. - Bring it slowly to a gentle boil and simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and allow everything to cool naturally.
- Remove the vessel, rinse it thoroughly and dry it completely.
- Repeat the process if seepage continues.
For very large vessels that cannot fit in a pot, fill them with rice-washing water or starch water, leave them for several hours, then wash and dry thoroughly.
